Bobby Gene Greeson, 80, of Warrensburg, passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.

Bobby was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Poplar Bluff, the son of Charles and Prudence "Ruth" Hodge Greeson. He was united in marriage to Norma "Jean" Vaugh on July 19, 1949 in Farmington, Mo. The couple moved from Farmington to Warrensburg in the early 1960s. Bobby was employed for many years with the J. E. Dunn Construction Co., which constructed many of the buildings on the campus of the University of Central Missouri. Later in life, he owned and operated the Greeson Construction Co., which was primarily involved in house construction. He loved fishing and hunting.

Survivors include five children, Bonnie Bratton and her husband, Dale of Warrensburg; Chuck Greeson and his wife, Jackie of Lone Jack; Peggy Paulsen and her husband, Michael of Warsaw; Becky Bowland and her husband, Floyd of Warrensburg; and Gretchen Swena and her husband, Steven of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; an infant son, Bobby Gene Greeson, Jr.; both parents and a sister, Bettye Penberthy.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with the Rev. Dennis Doyle of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Bowland, Dale Bratton, Ben Rogers, Bobby Greeson, Brian Greeson, Cale Bowland, Jesse Swena and James Swena.

Honorary pallbearers will be Denny Vaugh, Leon Edwards, Steve Swena and Michael Paulsen.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
