Virginia McDow Passes Away, Mother to Nancy, Perry, Mary Lee, Jamie, & Ellen


Virginia L. McDow 

Virginia L. McDow, age 80, of Centerview, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her residence.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo, the daughter of Raymond and Drusilla (Wright) Hart.

On June 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to James McDow in Independence, Mo., whom preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one daughter, Linda Sue McDow in 1960.

Virginia was a graduate of College High in Warrensburg, class of 1948. She was a member of the Jacoby Chapel, and the Columbus Homemakers Extension Club. President of the Columbus Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, and worked as a clerk, eleven years for the Water District No. 1. She also loved and enjoyed to crochet and sew.

Virginia is survived by one son, Perry McDow of Centerview, Mo.; four daughters, Mary Lee Riehle of Lee's Summit, Mo., Nancy McDow of Centerview, Mo., Jamie Goodman of Slater, Mo., and Ellen Wright of Blue Springs, Mo.; one sister, Mary Bentley of Springfield, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Reverend Pam Sebastian officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Peery, Galen Harmon, James Bracken, Ross Downing, Robert Simmons, and Dan Carter.

Burial will be in the Columbus Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Columbus Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
