Dr. Swank, Father of Leslie, David and Andrew Passed Dec 12

Theron E. Swank entered this life in Huntington County, Ind., in 1928, in the home that his mother was born in, on the farm that his great-great-grandfather established in 1876. He departed this life on Dec. 12, 2011, one day short of his 83rd birthday.  He graduated Manchester College in 1950 and served the military in the Korean War era. He earned his Ed.D. at Indiana University and taught at the U. of North Dakota before moving to Warrensburg; Missouri in 1963, to join the faculty of UCM when it was still known as CMSC. He retired in 1980. Dr. Swank was very active in the life of First Christian Church during his years in Warrensburg, and later in the Country Club Christian Church of Kansas City. He and his wife, Georgene, have three children, Leslie, (husband Jon Hart), Warrensburg, David, (wife Theresa), Independence, and Andrew, (wife Roberta), Brentwood, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Bruce Sadler, Diana Sadler Martin, and Allison Swank. A memorial service was held at noon Sunday, Dec. 25, at Country Club Christian Church Combs Chapel in Kansas City. Memorial gifts would be welcomed at Manchester College or either church.
