Junior Gauchat, father of Ed, Carol and Nancy


Emile 'Junior' Gauchat 

Emile "Junior" Gauchat, 86, of Warrensburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011.
He was born on June 12, 1925, in Leeton, the son of Emile Charles and Florence (Burford) Gauchat.
On May 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Golda Marr at the Marr family home in rural Johnson County.
Junior was a veteran of World War II, a corporal in the United States Marines. He was stationed in the south Pacific for 23 months. He was discharged Feb. 1, 1946.He attended Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg and taught rural school for two years, before entering the carpenter trade for six years. He then began contracting custom homes and commercial buildings and spent thirty-five years building over 475 custom homes and several commercial buildings. He retired from the construction business in 1990.
Junior was an assistant scoutmaster while his son was in the scouts, a 60- year member of the Elks Lodge, 50-year member of the Blue Lodge, 50-year member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the V. F. W., lifetime member of the Johnson County Historical Society, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Golda Gauchat of Warrensburg; one son, Edwin Gauchat of Warrensburg; two daughters, Carol Williams of Odessa and Nancy Hoffman of Minnetonka, Minn.; one sister, Emma Mudd of Warrensburg, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sherman and Russell Gauchat; three sisters, Stattie Nussbaum, Mildred Newland and Alice Gray.
Funeral and Masonic services for Emile "Junior" Gauchat will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Dr. Dan Lowry and Dale Williams officiating.
Interment will be in the Greer Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Lee, Jim Truex, Joe Sloan, Bill Dyer, Larry DesCombes and DeWayne Prince. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Davis, Bill Brenner, Jack Turner, Paul Owings and Wendell Davis.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greer Cemetery or Leeton High School for Veterans Memorial.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.  Our condolences from the Class of 73 go out to Golda, Ed, Nancy, Carol, extended family and friends.
