27 February 1956, a B-47 experienced structural failure shortly after takeoff from Whiteman AFB, MO (Knob Noster) and crashed into a house. Although the house and farm was completely destroyed by fire, a teenage boy and his mother (the only occupants in the house at the time) miraculously survived. The boy's name is Dan Curtis of Warrensburg. His brother and father were not at home at the time. All 4 crew members of the B-47 were killed.
