Bill Anderson, Warrensburg, Missouri Passes Away

Bill M. Anderson, age 82, of Warrensburg, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at Country Club Care Center.
He was born Aug. 15, 1927 in Ralls County, Mo., the son of Thomas and Anna (Moss) Anderson.
He was a World War II veteran as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy and serving in the Pacific.
Bill came to Warrensburg from Overland Park, Kan., in 1966 when he was hired as Warrensburg City Manager. He served as city manager and director of public works before accepting a position to run the transportation department in Columbia, a position he held for many years.
Bill loved his municipal jobs, but kept thinking about a desire to change his white shirts and ties to work clothes. He helped to expand the street department to allow crews to repair and build streets. His desire to make a change was so strong that it led him to begin a new career.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Davis on Aug. 26, 1972 in Warrensburg.
Bills owns a lot of rental property in Warrensburg, both houses and apartment units, many of which he built. Bill and Nancy also owned properties in Hickory Hills and several other subdivisions.
Bill was known for providing quality, affordable, clean housing. He was especially proud of the housing he built on the west side of Warrensburg, an area often neglected when it came to development and improvements.
Bill took pride in keeping his property well-maintained, inside and out, and when a renter needed repairs, he was on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He had an outstanding reputation as a landlord. Bill would go beyond the expected, helping renters through tough financial times and with good advice when it was sought. He was always compassionate, caring and kind. Even though he was sick he bought Christmas presents for three little boys whose parents were tenants.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Warrensburg.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Anderson of Warrensburg; children: Kimbal Anderson and wife, Cathy, of Boise, Idaho, Lora Anderson Ledbetter of Kansas City, Angela Pesky and husband, Mark, of Blue Springs, Andy Gelbach and friend, Karen, Douglas Gelbach and wife, Rhonda, Harry Gelbach and Darin Gelbach, all of Warrensburg; sister, Virginia Van Landingham of Holiday; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and associate, Ronnie Lakey of Warrensburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Elmer and Emmit Anderson; and a sister, Genevieve Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor Jerry Basye officiating.
Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Craig Bowland, Julius Vaughn, Brandon Myers, Gene Burden, Vernon Weinrich, Wendell Davis and Mike Lampton. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 131 and VFW Post 2513 of Warrensburg.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 16, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Veterans Home, Sheltered Workshop or City of Warrensburg Nancy Anderson Park and may be left at the funeral home.

Elaine Ruth Passes Away, (Robbie´s mother, class of '71)
WARRENSBURG--Elaine Ruth, 90, of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Western Missouri Medical Center . She was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Farragut , Iowa , the daughter of Edward M. and Nellie June (Cox) Barton. Elaine was a graduate of the 1938 class in Farragut, Iowa . She attended the Tarkio College in Tarkio, Mo. , for two years. She married Joseph H. Tallman Sept. 20, 1942. He was killed during the invasion of Europe in World War II on June 12, 1944. On Sept. 1, 1946, she married Bob Ruth at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Elaine worked as a secretary for the Extension Office at UCM and was co-owner with her husband at Brown Shoe Store in Warrensburg.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg and belonged to many church organizations. Elaine was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 67 years and member of PEO Chapter HW; volunteer for Western Missouri Medical Center Auxiliary and the Reach to Recovery (cancer organization); and loved to play bridge.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Ruth, of 63 years and from Warrensburg; a daughter, Becky Jo LaDuke of McPherson, Kan. ; a son, Robert Barton Ruth of Colleyville, Texas ; five grandchildren: Amy LaDuke, Scott LaDuke, Angie Ruth Buster, Shelly Ruth Hunter and Danny Ruth; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Marjorie Vaughn, Virginia Rea and Elizabeth Lorimor; and a brother, Duane Barton. Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg, with the Rev. Eric Schmidt and Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.
A private family burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo . Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or PEO Chapter HW and may be left at the funeral home.
