John D. Rockefeller's Cousin, David Rockefeller Smith from Warrensburg

David Rockefeller Smith, sixth in descent from Johann Peter Rockefeller and son of John Smith and Eliza Rockefeller, his wife, was born at Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania February 2, 1830. 
The official records show that David R. Smith joined for duty, and was enrolled as a Corporal of Company M, Forty-first Regiment, 2nd Cavalry, Indiana Volunteers, at Goshen, Indiana, on the 10th day of October, 1861, by Captain Blake and that he was duly mustered into the military service of theUnited States, at Indianapolis, Indiana, on the 12th day of October, 1861 , for the term of three years, by Lieutenant Colonel Norris, Mustering Officer. Honorably discharged in February, 1863, for disability. David Rockefeller Smith died at Warrensburg, Missouri, September 4, 1911
