Sharon Thomas Gabel, 77, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away from a stroke on Friday, October 22, 2021, in Independence, Mo. She was born on December 22, 1942.
She was a
graduate of Central High School in Kansas City in 1960 and graduated from
Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg in 1964 where she was in Alpha
Sigma Alpha sorority, ZZ, and was a charter member of the alumnae chapter. She
was married to Bill Gabel and they later divorced.
Sharon
taught English and writing at Warrensburg High School for eight years. Sharon
then went on a two-year around the world backpacking trip and even had a
6-month long Safari through Africa from North to South and eventually ended up
living in Australia for a time.
She then took
an Account Executive position with The Levi Strauss Company and held many
positions in Military Sales and lived in Germany, Washington D.C., and San
Francisco. Sharon was on the UCM Foundation Board for several years.
She was a
truly amazing free spirit.

I worked with Sharon in the 1970’s. She was a major motivator of so many people.
